FRESNO — Fresno Pacific, the No. 2 ranked team in the NAIA, held home court on Saturday as the Sunbirds edged Cal State Stanislaus, 5-4, in women's tennis.

Verena Preikschas, the 13th best player Division II, continues to win picked up victories in singles and doubles play to lead the Warriors on Saturday. Preikschas, and partner Katie Eng, defeated Fresno Pacific's top duo, 8-3. Preikschas and Eng is ranked No. 23 in the latest ITA poll.

Preikschas then improved to 8-1 in 2011-12 in singles play with a three-set win over Katarena Paliivets.

Freshman Davina Meza moved up to No. 2 this week and she won her singles match over Erika Januskoa, 6-3, 6-0. The fourth point for the Warriors came from No. 6 singles, where Heather Cotter defeated Erin Carlson, 6-4, 6-2.

The 34th ranked, now 3-2, will host Sonoma State next Saturday. The match is a 2 p.m. at the CSUS Tennis Courts.
