TURLOCK — The Warriors successfully defended their home courts in the season finale as Cal State Stanislaus handed UC San Diego another loss in a 7-2 win on Friday.

Cal State Stanislaus, ranked No. 33 in Division II, ended the regular season 9-4 overall while handing UC San Diego its seventh straight loss. No. 21 UCSD is now 6-15.

Prior to the match, head coach Verek Visaraga recognized seniors Verena Preikschas, Katie Eng, Lindsey West and Heather Cotter, as they help rebuilt the women's tennis program.

Preikschas and Eng finished their careers with a perfect 24-0 record as a doubles team on home court as they took down Melissa Breiksacher and Jacquelyn Davis, 8-3.

The highly decorated 19th ranked top doubles team completed their dual-play career 44-10, setting a new standard for the future of the program. The duo has been with Stanislaus since the women's tennis program was reinstated for the 2008-09 season. In 2011-12, they were 12-1.

Also on Friday, freshman Davina Meza and junior Kelsey Chrisco handled their opponents at second doubles, 8-1, to give Stanislaus the 2-0 lead, setting the tone of the rest of the day.

The No. 3 doubles team of Cotter and McKenzy Harden fought hard and rallied before falling 8-6.

In singles play, Preikschas improved to 63-17 in her career with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Breisacher. Meza is now 11-2 in her rookie season during dual match play after beating Melinda Chu, 6-2, 6-3. At No. 3, Eng upped her record to 52-28 overall with a straight-set win over Tara Vanooteghem.

Chrisco won her singles match over Katie Mulloy after Mully retired due to heat exhaustion.

At No. 6 singles, Cotter, also a senior, defeated Krystal Mizuguchi in three, including a thrilling super-tiebreaker third set.
