Cal State Stanislaus falls to No. 5 Cal Poly Pomona

Box Score POMONA — Another upset in the L.A. Inland Empire was not in the cards for the Warriors Thursday nigtht as the fifth ranked Cal Poly Pomona Broncos proved to be too strong in a 69-45 CCAA game.

Mitchel Anderson scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for another double-double night to lead Pomona to the win as the Broncos improved to 16-1 overall and 12-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Pomona has won seven straight.

The sharp-shooting Broncos used a 20-3 run to close out the first half for a 33-17 lead en route to the easy win. Pomona shot 49.1 percent for the game with six three-pointers (on 12 tries).

Clinton Tremelling and Ray Mitchell each scored nine points to lead Cal State Stanislaus (7-10, 4-9 CCAA). Micthell also had seven rebounds. Nick Hodge added eight points and Wes Bartole seven.

Stanislaus got as close as 11 points at 7:34 in the second half, but Cal Poly Pomona would pull away again on a 14-4 run.

The last time the Warriors were in the Inland Empire area of Southern California, they pulled off an upset over then-No. 15 Cal State San Bernardino on Jan. 11.
