Box Score TURLOCK — Against one of the best defensive teams in the conference, the Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team were unable to get its offense going as the Warriors fell to San Francisco State, 69-45, Friday night.
The Gators had entered the game third-best in the California Collegiate Athletic Association as far as points allowed per game. San Francisco State would leave Fitzpatrick Arena with that team stat in tact as the Gators improved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the CCAA.
San Francisco State had allowed 38 points in each of its last two contests prior to Friday's game.
The Warriors, 1-9 overall and 0-5 in conference play, hung close in the first half and got within eight points early in the second half before faltering. Offensively, Stanislaus shot decently with a 41.5 percentage (same as SF State). However, the Warriors committed 29 turnovers in the game. They also made just 9 of 22 free throws.
The Gators used a 21-4 run in the second half to turn run up to a 25-point lead at 6:51 to pull away.
Lauren Godde led Stanislaus with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Erin Godde had nine boards and
Devin Brown scored 10 points.
Natalie Winters chipped in eight points coming off the bench.
Nicole Hicks led SF State with 16 points, on 7 of 15 shooting. She also had four assists and seven rebounds.
