FRESNO — The Cal State Stanislaus women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 match on Monday at Fresno Pacific with
Davina Meza winning the single point at No. 1 singles play.
The Warriors (1-5) have lost five straight heading into matches against California Collegiate Athletic Association instituations, starting with Sonoma State on March 9 at home at CSUS Tennis Court. The last four matches were against Division I schools and highly talented programs at private universities.
On Monday against Fresno Pacific, which just received a No. 6 regional ranking, the Sunbirds rolled through the doubles competition.
Meza continues to lead the Warriors atop of the lineup by winning No. 1 singles over Maria Boura. After Moura won the first set 6-3, Meza returned the favor with a 6-2 victory to force a third. In the super-tiebreaker third, Meza outlasted Moura and prevailed 14-12.
McKenzy Harden put up a great fight at No. 3 by winning the first set, 6-1 before dropping set two 6-3. Katarena Pallivets, however, edged Harden 10-7 in the third.
