Warriors drop OT thriller at Monterey Bay

Box Score SEASIDE — A desperation shot with time expiring in overtime resulted in a heartbreaking loss as the Warriors dropped a 90-88 game to Cal State Monterey Bay.

Sam Marcus's jumper with 1:03 to go in regulation turned out to be the final points by either team as he sent the game into overtime. In the end, however, the Otters held Stanislaus scoreless in the final 2:26 in overtime.

Cal State Monterey Bay snapped an eight-game losing streak to improve to 9-19 overall and 5-16 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Cal State Stanislaus lost its third straight to fall to 9-16 overall and 6-15 in CCAA heading into Friday night's season finale.

Clinton Tremelling led the Warriors with a career-high 18 points on the strength of four three-pointers. The Warriors nailed 11 treys and it was a triple by Marcus Walters with 2:26 left in overtime ended up as the team's final bucket.

Walters finished with 15 points on three three-pointers while Wes Bartole scored 17 with nine rebounds. Nick Hodge also chipped in 12 points.

The tight game had 18 lead changes and seven ties with the biggest lead of the game at halftime when Marcus' jumper at the buzzer gave the Warriors a 51-37 lead.

But CSUMB started the second half on a 10-0 run to turn the game back into a see-saw battle.

In OT, after Walters gave Stanislaus an 88-86 lead with his three-pointer at 2:26, Kevin Loustale even that score for CSUMB with a jumper. Loustale's layup at 1:49 left to play turned out to the final decisive bucket.

Loustale finished iwth 19 points and Brandon Ward let the Otters with 24 points.
