TURLOCK — The Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team rebounded in a huge way Friday night as the Warriors completely dominated Cal State Monterey Bay, 81-47, in CCAA action.
The Warriors got 14 points and 12 points from the Godde sisters as they snapped a little two-game skid to improve to 9-4 overall and 6-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Associaiton.
The 34-point win is the Warriors' largest conference win since beating Cal State L.A. on Dec. 19, 1998 by 48 points (105-57). The Stanislaus victory snapped an eight-game losing streak against Cal State Monterey Bay.
Lauren Godde scored 14 points with eight rebounds and twin sister
Erin Godde came off the bench for 12 points in 18 minutes to lead the Warriors.
Ana Burch and
Riley Holladay each chipped in nine points on a night that everyone played. Burch and Holladay only needed to log 14 and 18 minutes, respectively.
After trailing 7-0 to start the game, Stanislaus dominated the rest of the way. The final tally had the Warriors out-rebounding (44-36), out-shooting (54.5 to 21.7 percent) and out-dished (18-8) the Otters.
Led by Burch with three, the Warriors made a season-high 11 three-pointers on 23 tries.
On the flip side, Cal State Monterey Bay shot just 17.2 percent in the first half (5-for-29) and 8 of 31 in the second half. At one stretch in the game, from mid-way throght the first half, to five minutes into the second half, CSUMB was held without a field goal for about 16 minutes.
Josephine Vieiras layup at 11:54 that made it 12-10 was CSUMB's last field goal until Vieiras made another layup at 15:49. By then, the Warriors led 44-18.
Stanislaus would lead by 40 points, at 58-18, after a pair of
Taylor Faucett baskets with 12:26 to play.
The Otters, still looking for their first win in CCAA play after nine games, were led by Ashley Morgn with 11 points and eight rebounds.
