Box Score TURLOCK - This is getting a little old for the Warrior faithful. For the third straight match, and the fourth time this season, the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision - this time to Chico State on Sunday.
Chico State's Katie Woodrum scored in the 103rd minute, in the second overtime, to break the scoress tie as the Wildcats handed the Warriors another 1-0 defeat. Chico State moves up to 8-4-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Cal State Stanislaus dropped to 11-4-0 overall and 4-4-0 in the CCAA. The Warriors lost three straight matches for the first time since the middle of the 2009 season when they lost four straight en route to a 10-9-1 season. They also snapped a 17-match regular season home winning streak.
With three regular season matches remaining, the Warriors are now looking up at the standings and hope to stay in the top six in the standings to qualify for the CCAA Championships. The CCAA tournament's semifinal and final matches are being held at Warrior Stadium, Nov. 7 and 9.
"There is still lots of season left to be played. We have a lot of determination on this team. I wouldn't bet against us and our hearts!" Bolton added.
All four of the Warriors' losses this year have came with the same 1-0 score including the last two on the road, at Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino. All of a sudden, the prolific Stanislaus offense has been slumping since blasting back-to-back four-goal matches recently with wins over Sonoma State and UC San Diego.
"I'm proud of the effort today. We left it all on the field. Unfortunately we just couldn't find the back of the net," head coach
Gabriel Bolton said. "We played good quality soccer and created a ton of the chances. I don't feel like we lost today we just didn't win."
The Warriors slightly out-shot Chico State, 17-13.
Chelsea Lewandowski collected five saves in goal, as did Brianna Furner of Chico. The Wildcats have only allowed 10 goals this season.
The 21st ranked Warriors' streak of being ranked in the Top 25 is also in jeopardy. Stanislaus has been in the NSCAA Top 25 for the previous 21 consecutive regular season weeks.
First place Cal State L.A. (13-1-1, 8-0-0 CCAA) visits the Warriors next Friday as the Warriors host a pair of CCAA contests. Stanislaus is also home for the regular season finale the following Thursday against Cal State East Bay.
