Box Score TURLOCK — It was a true freshman who shined on senior night as
Ana Burch scored 22 points to lead the Warriors before Cal State Stanislaus fell to Humboldt State, 66-60, Saturday.
The Warriors completed the much-improved season with a 13-13 overall record, the best finish for the program since the 18-10 mark in 2002-03. Meanwhile, Humboldt State, a team fighting for the final CCAA tournament berth got what it needed in the win but didn't get the help it needed.
On senior night, when the team recognized twin sisters
Erin Godde and
Lauren Godde and
Katie Staack, it was Burch who led all scorers. The guard from Sacramento made 7 of 12 shots with three three-pointers plus five free throws for 22 points. She also had six rebounds and rounded out the night with three assists and two steals.
Jasmine Washington, a sophomore, scored 14 and junior
Briana Cotton had 11 points.
Lauren Godde, a 2013 All-CCAA second team selection, finished her Stanislaus career with 1,207 points, which is fifth best in the school's all-time list for career points. She also tallied 757 rebounds for third best. Her twin sister
Erin Godde, who led all players with nine reounds Saturday, ended up seventh in the career top 10 list with 476 rebounds.
The match-up of the two top three-point shooters went the way of Burch as she made 3 of 4 three-pointers. Burch was second in the CCAA with a 39.7 three-point field goal percentage behind Kersey Wilcox (42.4). Wilcox was 1-for-2 for three points on the night.
Humboldt State (15-11, 12-10 CCAA) needed a win and either a loss by Cal State L.A. or Cal State Dominguez Hills to qualify for the CCAA tournament. The Jacks did their jobs by winning but Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills also won Saturday to eliminate HSU from postseason play.
