4/12/2014 9:31:00 PM

TURLOCK — Spoiling the day for the lone senior on the Warriors' tennis team, the No. 14 ranked Academy of Art Urban Knights defeated Cal State Stanislaus, 8-1, on a beautiful sunny Saturday on the campus of California State University, Stanislaus.

McKenzy Harden was the only senior on the young Cal State Stanislaus team as she played in her final home match as a Warrior. The four-year standout was defeated twice but she did not go out without a fight before losing the second and decisive set of her No. 2 singles match, 6-0, 7-5. Harden and teammate Jessica Laurie were bettered by AAU's Nina Gajdosikova and Daniela Amelunge, the seventh ranked doubles team in the West Region, with a score of 8-1.

Gajdosikova, the 50th ranked singles player in the country, downed Laurie in the top singles play, 6-0, 6-1 while J'Ana Diamond scored the Warriors' point at No. 3 singles play by winning the 4-6, 6-2, decision. Her opponent Michelle Dandik retired in the third set at 7-3.

Cal State Stanislaus (5-12) has two more matches to play to wrap up the 2014 season. The Warriors travel to UC San Diego and Cal State L.A. next weekend.
