Box Score CHICO - For the 25th consecutive match on the road, the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team get back on the team bus without a loss as the No. 3 Warriors shutout Chico State, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at University Stadium.

In the early-season match between the CCAA rivals of a contest not counting towards the conference standings, the Warriors defense completely held off the Wildcats to improve their record to 7-0-0 heading into the opening week of California Collegiate Athletic Association play.

"Chico is a terrific team and to beat them on the road is impressive. I felt like we controlled the game and played great possession soccer," head coach Gabriel Bolton said.

Stanislaus scored 1:50 into the second half on an own goal by a Chico State defender. Jade Poon was originally credited with her 10th goal of her just-started Stanislaus career, but after a postgame video review the scoring was changed.

Neverthless, Cal State Stanislaus extended its unbeaten streak away from Warrior Stadium to 25 matches at 21-0-4 since the middle of the 2011 season.

In the head-to-head series against the Chico State (3-2-1), the Warriors improved to 7-1-2 over the Wildcats in the last 10 meetings. The last time the Warriors traveled to Chico was Sept. 28, 2012, also a 1-0 Stanislaus win. The teams will meet again in Turlock on Oct. 19.

On Sunday, teams managed just two shots each in the first half without much action near the goals. In fact, Chico managed the only shot on goal in the match.

In the scoring play, Kirsten Coleman sent in the cross into the box in front of the near post. A Wildcat who was defending Poon tried to clear away the ball but instead knocked it in to give the Warriors the lead.

The Warriors stayed focused and prepared for the match under the leadership of assistant coach Jessica Schob. Bolton was not able to join the team until kickoff to attend to a family matter.

"Jessica and the leadership group did a fantastic job of making sure the team was prepared mentally and physically to perform," Bolton said.

Chelsea Lewandowski picked up the win and the shutout in goal for the Warriors. The Stanislaus defense and goalkeepers have recorded four shutouts this season while the team out-scored opponents 24-4.

Cal State Stanislaus will take its unblemished 7-0-0 record into CCAA action this week with matches at San Francisco State (Friday) and Cal State Monterey Bay (Sunday).

"We finished a very challenging preseason with a win and now look forward to CCAA play," added Bolton.
