About the Seawolves: SSU had won four straight before last week's two losses (at UCSD and CPP) … The Seawolves ranks in the bottom three in the CCAA in most offensive categories, including allowing 60.8 points per game (10th) … Hannah Sourek averages 13.6 points a game.

About the Gators: SF State has lost by an average margin of nearly 20 points (76.2 to 56.8) … Last week, the Gators were out-scored 174-104 … CCAA teams are shooting 48.2 percent against SFSU … Michelle Sutton (11.1 ppg) and Savannah Camp (10.8 ppg) are the top two scorers.
Snapping the StreakThis week's outlook is bright for the Warriors as both opponents, Sonoma State and San Francisco State, are coming to town with losing streaks. SF State is looking for its first win at 0-12 overall (0-8 in conference play). Sonoma State has lost two straight.
Home Sweet HomestandThe Warriors are in the midst of a four-game homestand (and six out of eight conference games at home). So far, the Warriors are 1-4 in games at Fitzpatrick Arena … The last time the Warriors had a four-game homestand, they went 2-2 from Jan. 31 to Feb. 8, 2014.
Four Straight Almost-Ranked TeamsThis week UC San Diego also received votes in the WBCA/USA Today Top 25 poll. That means the Warriors just finished a stretch where they faced four consecutive teams who are among the nation's bests according to the coaches poll.
Bottom Tier TeamsCal State Stanislaus is facing two teams near the bottom of the CCAA ranks statistically. Sonoma State is 10th with a 60.8 points per CCAA game average. SF State is 11th at 58.5. Only Cal State San Bernardino has a lower average at 57.0 … The SFSU Gators are also 11th in field goal percentage (36.9), last in rebounding (30.2) while opponent shoots 48.2 percent (12th). They have been outscored an average of 75 to 58.5 in eight conference games.
Cotton Surpasses 800Briana Cotton became the eighth Warrior to score 800 or more points in a career on Friday. She netted 21 points Friday and added 17 points Saturday for a nice 38-point weekend. Cotton now has 832 career points. She can reach 1,000 points if she can average 12 points a game the rest of the season. Only four Warriors have ever reach 1,000 career points.

Cassidy Also Puts Up PointsCassidy Sanders-Curry also enjoyed a nice weekend offensively. She averaged 15.5 points a game with 13 on Friday and 18 on Saturday. By scoring in double digits in four of last five games, Sanders-Curry now averages 10.3 points per game, second best on the team.
Freshman's Best GameReana Hardin posted one of her best games so far as the freshman nearly had a double-double in Saturday's game against Humboldt State. Hardin scored 9 points (inlcuding 4 of 6 from the free throw line) and grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds in 19 minutes of play.
Washington ReturnsJasmine Washington, who missed last week's two games due to academic reasons, will return to the lineup this week. She leads the team with a 11.9 points per game average and had scored four straight 10-plus point games prior to last weekend.
Head Coach Wayman StricklandWayman Strickland is in his third season as the head coach of the Warriors. After inheriting a team in July, 2012 (and went 2-25 in his first season), he has turned the program around with a very competitive 13-13 season in 2013-14. Prior to his arrival at Stanislaus, Strickland was an assistant coach at Delta College. He spent nine years as a professional player in Europe and Asia after a stellar four-year career at the University of San Diego (1988-92), where he amassed 1,040 career points and 408 assists.

CCAA Basketball ChampionshipsThe 2014-15 CCAA Men's & Women's Basketball Championship tournament will be held at the beginning of March. Six teams qualify for the event to be held at the Stockton Arena. The winner of the tournament would receive the automatic bid for the NCAA tournament.
Getting Back to the TournamentThe last time a Warriors women's basketball team qualified for the conference tournament was in 2010-11 when the Warriors lost at Cal Poly Pomona, 76-55, in the first round. Stanislaus also played in the 2009 CCAA tournament (lost at Humboldt State, 82-61).
Vying For the PostseasonIt has been 11 seasons since the last time the Warriors made the NCAA postseason. Stanislaus went 18-10 in the 2002-03 season and played in the opening round of the NCAA tournament in Seattle (116-106, OT, lost to Cal State Bakersfield).
