The new-look Stanislaus State men's basketball team is set to open the regular season schedule with two games this weekend with a game away and the home opener Saturday night.

Thursday
at Notre Dame de Namur, Belmont, 7 p.m. | [Live Stats] [Live Audio] [Live Video]

Saturday
vs. Dominican, Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena, 7 p.m. | [Live Stats] [Live Audio] [Live Video]

Series Notes: This is just the fourth time the Warriors are playing NDNU with a 3-1 advantage. Stanislaus won the last meeting, on Dec. 10 of last year, 72-56. Prior to the 2014 game, the teams had not played since 2007 … Stanislaus State is 5-2 against Dominican all-time after last year's win in San Rafael, a 60-58 Warriors win. The teams are 2-2 in the last four meetings since 2008.

Why Is It New-Look? This year's squad looks drastically different with the key players of the program's recent past gone. A total of seven seniors completed their athletic
eligibilities this past spring. The current team features just one senior in Alek Carlson with four returning players from the 2014-15 active roster. Three redshirts from the previous team are also now suiting up.

Bayne Led in Exhibition: In the Warriors' only outing thus far against another opponent, Christian Bayne led the Warriors to a 77-53 win over Bristol on Nov. 5. Bayne scored 15 points on 6 of 7 shooting with four assists and three steals. Vondel Faniel and Joey Bennett each scored 13 points off the bench. Bennett also had seven rebounds and three blocks.

Big Man Faniel: Vondel Faniel was a force coming off the bench in the game against Bristol. He scored 13 points (5-for-7) and pulled eight rebounds, tying the team-lead with Kyi Thomas, in 20 minutes of play.

Season Openers: The Warriors have won two straight regular season openers and three of the last four. Stanislaus is also 2-0 in the last two home openers with a win over Notre Dame de Namur on Dec. 10, 2014 and a Nov. 9, 2013 win over Simon Fraser, 85-72.

Lots of Live Coverage of Warrior Basketball: Every home game will be available as a live video and audio stream via WarriorTV at WarriorAthletics.com/WarriorTV. Additionally, Blue Chip Broadcasting returns with an expanded cover for 2015-16, which includes all home men's and women's conference games, five road doubleheaders, as well as select home and away non-conference games for both basketball programs. In all, there are 36 basketball games scheduled for the regular season. For a complete listing of the broadcast schedule, please click here.

About the Opponents: Notre Dame de Namur (0-2) opened the season with losses to Cal Poly Pomona (84-46) and Cal State San Bernardino (81-56) in Azusa last week. They lost by an average of 31.5 points. Korey Serna averaged 13.5 points and 5 rebounds a game. Tre'Shawn King-Dunba is second in scoring with 10 points a game with four three-pointers … Dominican split its home openers Nov 13-14 with a loss to Sonoma State (68-63) and win over Cal State Monterey Bay (83-73).
