TURLOCK -
J'Ana Diamond won both of her matches as she led the Warriors won at the top spot in both doubles and singles play, however, the Holy Names Hawks held serve in the other matches to win the first match of the season, 7-2, Saturday afternoon.
The match was a make-up of last weekend's rained out contests.
Diamond and
Jessica Laurie posted an easy 8-0 win in doubles play over Jessica Ho and Chelsea Smithback to start the day. However, Hawks No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams took their matches for the 2-1 HNU lead.
Diamond also out-battled Mariel Bautista, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 1 singles position.
The best contest on the day was at No. 4 between walk-on
Ebone Qualls and Taylor Barajas. After Qualls finally take the first set 7-6 (7-4 in tiebreaker), Barajas rallied to take set two 6-2. The third set super-tiebreaker went all the way to 10-8 before the match was decided.
