SAN FRANCISCO — The 14th ranked Academy of Art women's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the young season after blanking the Warriors, 9-0, Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors, ranked No. 27 at the end of the fall season, has lost both early-season matches against two teams in the Pacific West Conference. The Warriors are in their first season as affiliate members in the PacWest.
The Urban Knights, also ranked No. 3 in the West Region, swept through doubles play, but they were definitely challenged at the No. 1 doubles match. Warriors
J'Ana Diamond and
Jessica Laurie pushed the Art U top duo to the limited before the 9-7 decision.
At No. 1 singles, Diamond gave up the best fight against 43rd ranked singles player the country in Nina Gajdosikova. Diamond ultimately dropped the match 6-3, 6-3.
Cal State Stanislaus is back in action Friday afternoon, at home in Turlock, against Dominican in another PacWest match.
