LA JOLLA — The Cal State Stanislaus women's tennis team wrapped-up a two-match trip to San Diego this weekend on Sunday as the Warriors were blanked by No. 15 ranked UC San Diego, 9-0. The Warriors earned a 8-1 win over Grossmont College on Saturday to split the weekend trip.
In Saturday's match over Grossmont, the Warriors swept through doubles play in straight sets to go up 3-0. Then in singles play all but one Warrior captured individual victories with four of them earning straight set wins.
Analyssa Tallas rallied after dropping the first set to win in three with 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 scores.
Jessica Stokes posted the shutout win over her opponent Maddy Kleine with 6-0, 6-0 scores while
Ebone Qualls was solid over Annie Cavalcante at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 final.
On Sunday in La Jolla, UC San Diego, the fourth ranked team in the West Region and 15th in the nation, proved to be too strong for Cal State Stanislaus. The Tritons won all nine matches in straight sets with Stanislaus earned six game points in singles play.
Jessica Laurie had the best outcome with a 6-0, 6-4 score at No. 2 singles against Jasmine Hosseini.
Cal State Stanislaus returns home for a mid-week match against Notre Dame de Namur on Wednesday at 1 p.m. before heading to Reno, Nev., for a couple of matches. In Reno, the Warriors will play at University of Nevada Reno and No. 25 Sonoma State on netural court.
