SANTA CRUZ — The Warriors rallied back by winning five singles matches to defeat UC Santa Cruz, 6-3, on Sunday.
After trailing 2-1 after doubles play — where Analyssa Talls and
J'Ana Diamond recorded a 8-2 win over Slyvia Brummitt and Islay Fossett — the Warriors played strong to control singles matches. Stanislaus won at five of the six singles positions to record the 6-3 team win.
Sarah Cardenas got an opportunity to play at No. 6 and posted a three-set win. After sneaking by with a 7-6 win in the first with a 7-5 tiebreak win, she gave up the second set to Stephanie Graziano 6-3. The duo then batted in the super tie-breaker third with Cardenas prevailing 10-5 for the win.
Diamond also posted a win at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Soph Lundeberg to go 2-0 on the day, as did Tallas, winning 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
The Warriors will play again on Monday, this time at home, against Notre Dame de Namur with a match a 1 p.m.
