Warriors face final DI program in last non-conference week

After defeating three CCAA teams in the past two weeks, the Warriors have a lighter week with only one game. a non-conference matchup, the Warriors will travel to San Jose State on Sunday the 18th to challenge the last of five Division I teams that the Warriors have seen this season.

San Jose State Spartans (2-9)
Series Notes: As San Jose State is another Division I institution, the Warriors have never faced them before. Sunday will be the first time that Stan State takes on the Spartans,W or get to play in the DI atmosphere of the San Jose State Event Center.
 
About the Spartans: Currently the Spartans are being led all around by Jasmine Smith who has shot 47.8 percent thus far. Smith is also San Jose State's leading rebounder with an average of 7.4 rebounds per game, and she leads her team with 20 steals ... Dezz Ramos who has shot 38.5 percent this season, is the only Spartan to reach triple digit scoring with 209 points overall. Ramos is 16-for-55 at the three-point arch, and 43-for-49 at the free throw line. Ramos also leads with 54 assists for the season.
 
CCAA Standings
As the only team in the CCAA with three conference wins and no losses, Stan State currently resides at the top of the conference standings. This achievement marks the first time since the 1999-00 season that Stan State has won their first three CCAA competitions of the year. The Warriors are followed by Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State East Bay, and Cal State L.A., each with two conference wins.
 
Warrior Defense
Stan State had a great defensive weekend against Cal State Monterey Bay and Humboldt State. The Otters were only able to shoot 25.4 percent against the Warriors, shooting a mere 21.2 percent in the first half ... While the Warriors only shot at 28.3 percent against the Jacks, their aggressive defense was able to keep Humboldt State shooting under 35 percent. The Jacks shot 29.2 percent in the first half, and 34.7 percent overall ... Stan State also out-rebounded both of their opponents, defeating the Otters 52 to 28 rebounds, and 41 to 25 rebounds against the Jacks.
 
Hardin's Sharp Shooting
Senior guard Reana Hardin was the star of Saturday night's take down of the Humboldt State Lumberjacks. In her best game yet this season, Hardin totaled 21 points, surpassing her previous career high of 20. Hardin went 7-for-14 from the field, shooting 75 percent from the 3-point line alone. The rest of the Warriors were 10-for-46 overall, giving Hardin almost half of Stan State's total baskets and 54 overall points against the Jacks. Hardin also had five rebounds and two steals against Humboldt State.
 
Astounding Rebounding
Junior forward Leticia Infante gave an outstanding performance during the Warriors win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday night. Infante snatched 14 rebounds against the Otters, which earned her a starting position for Saturday night's competition against Humboldt State. Infante set herself a new career high against the Otters, with her previous single game high being 10 rebounds, which she set earlier this season ... She also matched her season high of two steals in a game for the third time this season.
 
More Warrior Achievements
During the weekend's two CCAA victories, a number of other Warriors made great performances. Against Cal State Monterey Bay, Ana Burch led the team with 17 points, her fourth game this season as the Warriors top scorer ... Also on Friday night, Cassidy Sanders-Curry grabbed eight rebounds, surpassing her season high of six rebounds. She continued to raise her  game on Saturday with nine rebounds against the Jacks ... Riley Holladay also totaled nine rebounds against Humboldt State, just two shy of her career high of 11 rebounds ... Lizzy Alexander set two new season highs on Friday night with six points and four rebounds ... Angelica Baylon increased three of her season highs against CSU Bakersfield on Tuesday with three rebounds, three assists, and three steals ... Caprina Pipion increased her season high by one with five rebounds against Cal State Monterey Bay.
