Warriors Notes
What's At Stake:Â The Warriors will have plenty to play for as the regular season winds down. Stan State will try to continue its success at home with a pair of wins to solidify their position to get a first round home game for the CCAA Tournament.Â
Winning Record At Home:Â Inside Fitzpatrick Arena, the Warriors are 8-1 this season and has locked in on a home-winning season for the first time since 2010-11 when that team went 9-4 in Turlock. The Warriors will have to win all three remaining games to match the 1999-2000 team's 11-win mark.Â
We're Already In:Â Stanislaus State has already secured a berth in the CCAA Tournament. It would be the program's first appearance in the postseason event since 2011. The Warriors also made the CCAA Tournament in 2009. Both times they lost in the opening round game.
Playing for Another Home Game:Â The Warriors have a shot at hosting a first round game at the Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena in the first round of the CCAA Tournament on March 1. The top four teams in the regular season host a first round contest on campus sites to earn a chance to play at Stockton Arena in the semifinals, March 4-5. Stan State currently sits in fourth place, a game and a half ahead of fifth place Cal State San Bernardino and Humboldt State, with four games left to play.
Buckets Fell for Hardin:Â Reana Hardin had her best weekend as a Warrior last week as she scored 37 points to lead the team. She was a combined 10 of 23 shooting (43.5 percent) and made 9 of 14 three-pointers (64.3 percent). The 20-point game on Friday at San Bernardino was a career-high.
Sanders-Curry Heats Up:Â Perhaps Cassidy Sanders-Curry is heating up as the junior forward has posted three straight double-digit scoring games. Last week on the road she scored 14 points per game on 8 of 21 shooting. She was also 7 for 8 on the line on Saturday and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double, her first this season. She also tied a season-high with four assists at UC San Diego.
More Season-Best Games: Riley Holladay posted a season-high in scoring on Saturday at UC San Diego with 16 points. She also tied a career-high with two blocked shots … Jasmine Washington grabbed eight rebounds at UC San Diego on Saturday to tie a career-high … Taylor Faucett equalled her season best with two blocks at UC San Diego, too.
Road Woes:Â The Warriors are just 6-6 on the road this season (4-5 in conference play). Historically, Stanislaus has not been successful away from home with a 57-140 record (48-120 in CCAA play) since the start of the 1998 season. With one more road game, at Cal State L.A. next Thursday, the Warriors can post a winning record for just the fourth time since joining the CCAA in 1998.
