AZUSA — At the Cougar Tennis Complex, the Stanislaus State women's tennis team played tough but fell to Azusa Pacific, 9-0, on Friday.
The Warriors dropped their first match of the season this spring and are now 3-1 before facing Cal State L.A. in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The No. 1 doubles match was the most competitive of the day with the Warriors' top duo
Jaella Conway and
Cassidy Ferrell battling to a 8-6 match against Natalie Johnson and Lisa Schneider. The Warriors also had their chances in the No. 2 doubles match before
Lamella Belgica and
J'Ana Diamond came up short in the 8-3 loss.
In singles action, Diamond and Ferrell played in a couple of tight contests before two 6-3, 6-3 scores.
