TURLOCK — The 26th ranked Sonoma State Seawolves defeatd the Stanislaus State Warriors, 9-0, in women's tennis on Saturday at the Stan State Tennis Courts.
The Warriors challenged the highly regarded SSU team before faling to 4-5 on the season after sitting out for two weeks after weather cancelling the two previously scheduled contests.
Sonoma State remains unbeaten at 9-0 by sweeping through the day. The No. 1 doubles match featured Jaella Conway and Cassidy Ferrell against SSU's Jensyn Warren and Jordyn Kearney with the Seawolves prevailing, 8-4. That's also the same score for the No. 2 doubles match between J'Ana Diamond and Ebone Qualls verus Kaitlyn Haithcock and Karlee Budge.
In singles play, the Warriors No. 2 and No. 3 players battled their opponents to three sets, each winning the first set, before losing in super-tiebreakers.
Stanislaus, ranked No. 50 in the last ITA poll, will face another nationally ranked team with No. 2 BYU Hawaii coming to down on Saturday, March 19.
