PUEBLO, Colo. — The trip to Colorado started off with a victory as the Stanislaus State women's tennis team defeated Colorado State-Pueblo, 8-1, Tuesday afternoon.
The Warriors improved to 6-7 on the season after the win over the Thunderwolves (2-14) and will work their way north to Colorado Springs for a match at Colorado College on Wednesday, where the weather is expected to be cold and windy. Stan State wraps up the Colorado portion of the Spring Break trip in Denver against Metro State on Thursday.
"It was a really good match for our ladies. We seemed to eventually adjust to the high elevation and very tough conditions," head coach
Verek Visaraga said. "I am very proud of the team. Lamella and Analyssa really stepped up in the third set."
On Tuesday against Pueblo, the Warriors swept through the doubles matches. Then in singles play, the Warriors won at No. 2 through No. 6 singles action with
Lamella Belgica pulling out a thrilling super-tiebreaker win over Kristin Jensen at No. 4. Belgica won the tiebreaker, 11-9, for the victory. At No. 6 singles, Tallas forced a tiebreaker set by equalling the score with a 6-4 win in the second. Tallas out-lasted Gia Montoya for a 10-7 win in the end.
