DENVER — The Stanislaus State women's tennis team went 2-0 during its not-so-spring-like Spring Break trip to Colorado after today's 5-4 win over Metro State Thursday.

Analyssa Tallas came up with the clinching victory for the Warriors in her singles play as she defeated Alex Horton, 6-2, 6-3, for the team's fifth point.

"I am really proud of these girls. Analyssa stepped up and won the match for us," head coach Verek Visaraga said. "Cassidy also played an incredible singles match. These girls are doing really well and these girls are really starting to hit the mark and playing well."

Ferrell was victorious for her third straight individual match with a tight contest against Kasey Love. After winning the first set 6-4, Ferrell eventually out-lasted Love 8-6 in the set-tiebreaker after a 7-6 score.

Ferrell and Tallas also won their doubles matches with their partners against the Roadrunners (4-13). Ferrell and Jaella Conway won at No. 1 doubles, 8-4 while Tallas teammed with Lamella Belgica for an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles. Ebone Qualls posted a win at No. 5 singles, too, with a 6-3, 6-0 decision over Kaitlyn Miller.

The Warriors defeated Colorado State-Pueblo on Tuesday, 8-1, and yesterday's match at Colorado College was cancelled due to snow — yes, snow, during Spring Break. But the team took advantage of the off day with some sightseeing including a visit to the US Air Force Academy.

"We had a really good trip to Colorado and we look forward to returning home and go to Santa Cruz," Visaraga added. "We are also looking forward to having our fans next week when we play our last home game."

Stanislaus State, which improved its record to 7-7, returns to sunny California with its next match at UC Santa Cruz on Saturday at 2 p.m. before a contest at Aacadmy of Art on Sunday. The Warriors host Dominican for their home finale on Saturday, April 9.
