Looking For A Division I Win
Since the 2015-16 season the Warriors have gone 0-10 against Division I opponents. So far this season the Warriors have traveled to San Jose State and Cal State Bakersfield for exhibition competition, losing both by less than 20 points. Playing their final Division I opponent of the season, Stan State will be looking to cause an upset against the Wolf Pack.Â
Leading At The Free-Throw Line
Last Thursday against Humboldt State
Kyanna Davis set herself a new personal record after scoring 19 points against the Lumberjacks. Davis had an aggressive night at the hoop, shooting 100 percent (8-for-8) at the free-throw line. She was 1-for-2 from the three-point arc and 5-for-13 overall from the field. Â
Turning Things Around
The Warriors are currently on a two-game losing streak and hope to quickly turn things around. Earlier this season Stan State fell in two exhibition games and a tournament matchup consecutively, but had not lost two in a row until last weekend. Striving to make a turn for the better, the Warriors will be looking to improve their record with two non-conference victories this week. Â
Warrior Lineup
After using five different lineups in just eight games, coach
Wayman Strickland may have found a combination that will stick. In the last four games Strickland has started the same five players;
Zahria Hendrix,
Kyanna Davis,
Caprina Pipion,
Lizzy Alexander, and
Erika Larsen. With a solid lineup written and chemistry building Strickland and his team will look to earn some wins.Â
Break For The Holidays
After this week's two non-conference competitions, the Warriors will have two and a half weeks without competition for the holidays. Stan State will be back at Fitzpatrick Arena on December 29th and 31st  before finishing off the season in the new year.Â
CCAA Play
So far Stan State is a mere 2-4 in conference play. With things not starting off as well as the Warriors had hoped, its a blessing that the holidays are upon us. Stan State will have two weeks in the gym without competitions to work on their game before another CCAA matchup. The Warriors will face the clock again on December 29th against Cal State San Marcos.Â
Starting Off Strong
Statistically speaking, the Warriors tend to find more success when they start a game off strong. So far this season Stan State has led the game at the end of the first quarter in three of their victories. In four of their wins the Warriors were also leading heading into half time.Â
