SAN LUIS OBISPO — Playing against another Division I program, the Stanislaus State women's tennis team put up some valiant efforts before falling to Cal Poly, 7-0, on Sunday.
Ebone Qualls had the best performance on the day at No. 4 singles as she challanged her opponent Abby Bacharach to 6-3, 6-4 scores.
J'Ana Diamond, at No. 3 singles, and
Jaella Conway, at No. 2, also played well before dropping their matches in straight sets.
"The girls fought very hard today and had some chances to split against the Division I athletes," said head coach
Verek Visaraga. "We are looking forward to our matches this week against our Division II opponents at home."
Cal Poly was the Warriors' second contest this season against a Division I program.
The Warriors have a busy week ahead with four home matches. They host Hawaii Hilo on Tuesday before taking on Dixie State on Thursday. Over the weekend, Stanislaus hosts Sonoma State (Saturday) and Academy of Art (Sunday).
