TURLOCK — The 49th ranked Stanislaus State women's tennis team got its four-match homestand off to a great start on Tuesday with a 7-2 win over Hawaii Hilo.
The Warriors swept through the three doubles matches to begin the date with the Vulcans, including a thrilling 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles for
Cassidy Ferrell and
Jaella Conway. At No. 2,
J'Ana Diamond and
Ebone Qualls blanked their opponents, 8-0. Then,
Sooni Seul and
Kristi Van Diver took down their foes, 8-4, at No. 3
Stanislaus State held strong in singles competition, winning four of six contests. Van Diver over matched her opponent, Caralyn Fitzpatrick, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6. Conway held off Sara Valero to win 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 while Diamond and Qualls also posted victories in their positions.
Tuesday's affair marks just the first of four matches the Warriors will host this week during a busy week on campus. Stanislaus hosts Dixie State at 1 p.m. on Thursday and takes on Sonoma State and Academy of Art over the weekend.
