Improved Shooting & Scoring
The Warriors improved in a couple of areas statistically last week. They improved their scoring average by more than a point and moved up to seventh best in the CCAA (from 10th). The Warriors bettered their shooting percentage to .431 (from .419) and is now the sixth best shooting team in the conference … Against Cal State San Marcos the Warriors shot 51.9 percent for the game, their second best average this season.
Faniel Nets 20 — Twice
Vida Faniel had another awesome week as he posted back-to-back 20-point games on the road. He had 20 points in Thursday's overtime win over UC San Diego and added 21 points on Saturday at Cal State San Marcos. He now has four 20-point games this season and was just shy of 20 points in two other occasions (when he scored 18 and 19).

Better on the Road
After going 1-1 last week, the Warriors are one more road victory away from security a winning regular season on the road (four away games remaining). Prior to this season, the Warriors had only posted two winning seasons on the road with 7-6 overall records (9 wins in 2014-15 and 11 wins in 2013-14 including neutral site games). Stan State had three 6-5 CCAA away-game seasons.

Free Throw Shooters
Stan State has two of the best free throw shooters in the CCAA. During CCAA games, Vida Faniel has made 88.9 percent of his free throws, which is second best in the league. Andy Cleaves' 85.4 percentage is fourth best … Faniel has a current active streak of 18 consecutive free throws made. Cleaves' streak ended last Saturday at 25 … The Stan State record is 33.
Against His Former Team
Co-Head Coach Paul Trevor will be facing his former team for the first time on Saturday. Trevor coached seven seasons at SF State and posted a 107-86 record. He led the Gators to a NCAA Tournament berth and finished with a 25-6 record last season. Trevor was named the NABC West Region Co-Coach of the Year.
Overtime Win
Thursday's overtime win over UC San Diego was the Warriors' first victory in extra time since Feb. 20, 2016. They actually won back-to-back OT games that weekend, first was a triple overtime win over Humboldt State followed by the upset win over No. 20 Cal Poly Pomona … It was also the team's first OT win on the road since Nov. 19, 2015 (at Notre Dame de Namur, W, 59-53).
Gave Up the Long Shots
As a team, the Warriors have allowed 140 three-pointers in 13 league games (2nd most in the CCAA). Only San Francisco State has allowed more (146). Opponents are averaging 10.8 treys a game and shot 38.5 percent. The Warriors have allowed nine or more three-pointers in six straight CCAA games.Â
