Warriors tennis heads west for the weekend

This weekend the Stan State Tennis team will start up their 2018 travel schedule. They will take on Sonoma State on Saturday beginning at noon, followed by matches against Academy of Art on Sunday also starting at noon.

Series Notes: The Warriors are 6-11 against Sonoma State since 2009, losing to the Seawolves twice last season. Stan State lost to SSU 2-7 in Rohnert Park and lost 1-8 in Turlock in the spring of 2017 … The Warriors are 3-8 against AAU since 2011. Last season Stan State lost to the Urban Knights both at home and in San Francisco, 1-8.
 
Last Weekend: Last weekend the Warrior women hosted their first match of 2018 against Seattle University. Stan State fell to their Division I opponent 0-9.

Regional Rankings: The Stanislaus State women's tennis team is currently ranked tenth in the west region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
 
About Sonoma State: Sonoma State finished the 2017 season with a 14-7 overall record. The Seawolves went 3-1 at the PacWest Conference Championship last season with wins over two nationally ranked teams. Currently fifth in the region, SSU started off their spring schedule with an exhibition match against San Jose State on Jan. 26. 
 
About Academy of Art: So far the Urban Knights are 1-1 in exhibition competitions this spring. AAU lost to the University of the Pacific 2-5 last Friday, and defeated Seattle U 6-1 on Saturday. Academy of Art is currently ranked No. 7 in all of Division II women's tennis.
