Buzzer Beater: Last Saturday the Warriors played a close game against Cal State East Bay in Hayward. Throughout the entire first half Stan State held the lead, finishing the first period 10-points ahead of the Pioneers, and maintained a five-point lead after the second quarter. The Warriors had shot 44 percent from the field in the first half and were 6-for-12 (50 percent) from the three-point arc, a significant increase from their usual 27.1 three-point shooting percentage. The Warrior women were also 9-for-10 from the free-throw line before half time. Cal State East Bay worked their way back in the second half and eventually gained the lead over Stan State. With less than a minute to go in the game CSUEB was up by one point (69-70), but a layup by
Lizzy Alexander put the Warriors in the lead with 18 seconds left. So close to victory, Stan State never would have expected Cal State East Bay to make a buzzer-beating three-pointer with one second left on the clock, to reclaim the lead and take home the win.Â
