TURLOCK —Cassidy Ferrell has won her second consecutive tournament championship. This time, the senior star won the Single A flight of the Warrior Tennis Invitational, hosted by Stanislaus State, over the weekend.

Ferrell, the top seed in the bracket, beat two Sonoma State Seawolves to capture the title on Sunday. First, she took down No. 3 Carolyn Brooner 7-6, 6-2, in the semifinal match. In the title tilt, Ferrell battled No. 4 Clarissa Colling to super-tiebreaker to win 6-1, 4-6, 10-8.

Ferrell had won the UC Santa Cruz Slug Invitational on Oct. 14.

Also with great results on Sunday for Stan State include a consolation semifinal win by Kayla Nguyen over Dominican's Ofelia Lopez. In the singles B bracket, freshman Sylvana Talamantes upset teammate and fourth seeded Megan Hagerty, 1-6, 6-4, 10-7

In doubles action, Ferrell and Nguyen paird-up to captured the back-draw title by blanking Mill's College pair Dana Culpepper and Grace Deaton, 6-0.
