OAKLAND – On Saturday morning at the Meyer Tennis Courts the Stanislaus State tennis team lost in a close match to Holy Names University, 3-6.
Cassidy Ferrell was the only Warrior to win her singles matchup, with a 6-0 victory in set one and a tiebreaker win 10-4. Ferrell defeated Holy Names' Jahan Bayramova.
Megan Hagerty took her match against Symone Jacques to a third set after winning the second 10-0 in a tiebreaker.
Kayla Nguyen was also close to a victory, winning the second set 3-6 but falling in the third.
Ferrell and Nguyen won their doubles match 8-4 over Bayramova and Eliza McKean. Hagerty and
Taylor Galya also earned a doubles win with an 8-6 victory over Rutendo Gwaze and Dominique Ernst.
"We had a chance. Our new players Kayla and Megan gave themselves a chance in the third sets to win, but we had tough calls not go our way."
Next weekend the Warriors will be on the road for the third weekend in a row, with a single match on Sunday against Dominican starting at noon.
