SAN RAFAEL - Continuing to improve their game, the Stanislaus State tennis team put up a tough fight against Dominican University, losing 3-6 on Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors are now 0-5 for the season but had a decent day overall, winning three matches and taking three others to third sets.
Stan State won all three of their doubles matches, their first doubles sweep of the season.
Cassidy Ferrell and
Kayla Nguyen defeated Rickimae Torres and Skyler Schaar 8-7 with a 7-3 tie breaker. Two Warrior pairs won their matches 8-6,
Taylor Galya and
Megan Hagerty taking down Taylor Lim and Kaitlyn Nguyen, and
Ebone Qualls and Miliaan Proft beating Savannah Gray and Alex Wartenberg.
Dominican won all singles matches, but not without a fight. Ferrell took her match against Schaar to a third set, winning the second 6-4. Both Proft and Hagerty lengthened their matches winning the second sets 6-3.
Next weekend the Warriors will play at home facing two separate opponents in one day. They will host Modesto JC at 11 a.m. and Mills College at 3 p.m.
