TURLOCK - Hosting their first match of the weekend, the Stanislaus State tennis team fell to Cal State L.A. 1-8 on Friday afternoon at the Stan State Tennis Courts. 

Cassidy Ferrell was the Warriors lone victor against the Golden Eagles, winning her singles match against Elizaveta Sokolova 6-3, 6-0. Megan Hagerty put up a tough fight against her opponent, losing 6-5, 6-2, and Ebone Qualls also challenged CSULA, falling 6-3, 6-3. Taylor Galya almost pushed her match into a third set, losing 6-1, 5-7.

Kayla Nguyen was defeated 6-2, 6-2 and Miliaana Proft lost 6-1, 6-0. 

The Golden Eagles took home all three doubles wins, but not without a fight. In No. 1 doubles Ferrell and Nguyen fell 8-6 to Sokolove and Amanda Schneider after an aggressive match. The Warriors held the lead for a few points before CSULA pushed ahead, and the Stan State pair made an impressive comeback towards the end before the Eagles eventually took the win. 

In other doubles matches Hagerty and Galya fell 5-8, and Qualls and Proft lost 8-1.

Tomorrow the Warriors will head to UC Santa Cruz to take on the Banana Slugs beginning at 1 p.m.
