TURLOCK, Calif.---  Coming off a strong performance at the 2022 CCAA Cross Country Championships on November 5 in Carmel, Calif., both the Stan State men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Billings, Mont., this Saturday, November 19 to participate in the NCAA Division II West Regional Championships at Amend Park.  The men's 10K race will begin at 10am (MT) and the women's 6K race will start at 11:15am (MT). 

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RECAP OF THE CCAA'S: Stan State captured its second consecutive conference title in Carmel, Calif., on November 5.  The Warriors had 39 points compared to Chico State's 52 points.  Kaela Dishion won the 6K race for the second year in a row with a course record time of 20:54.4.  She was named the CCAA Runner of the Year for the second consecutive year.  Also earning All-CCAA honors by placing in the top 15 were Najwa Chouati (third), Kayden Lagen (seventh) and Yahaira Zuniga (ninth).  Chouati was named the CCAA Newcomer of the Year.  For the second year in a row, Darren Holman was named the CCAA Coach of the Year. 

LAST YEAR'S REGIONALS:  Stan State finished in second place at the 2021 NCAA Division II West Regionals in Monmouth, Ore., to receive a berth to the 2021 NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships.  Kaela Dishion won the 6K race and earned All-Region honors along with Sabrina Garcia and Iris Carillo.  The Warriors finished nineteen points behind regional champion, Simon Fraser.  At the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championships in St. Leo, Fla., the Warriors finished in 12^th place while Dishion was a 48^th place finisher.    

NATIONALLY/REGIONALLY RANKED:  For the seventh straight week, the Warriors were ranked in the top 15 in the nation in the NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country National Poll.  Stan State was once again first in the region.    

CCAA RUNNERS OF THE WEEK: Kaela Dishion was named the CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week three times this season (Aug. 29-Sept. 4), (Sept. 19-25) and (Oct. 10-16).  Dishion also was named the USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week for the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 4.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RECAP OF THE CCAA's: Stan State finished in fourth place at the CCAA Championships in Carmel on November 5.  Medhane Woldu and Cristian Alcantar each were named to the All-CCAA Team as they finished in the top 15 in the 8K race.  Woldu finished in third and Alcantar was a 14^th place finisher. Cooper Freeman earned CCAA Freshman of the Year honors by being the top freshmen finisher with his 30^th place finish. 

LAST YEAR'S REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP: The Warriors finished in ninth place at last year's regionals in Monmouth, Ore.  Jose Garcia earned All-Region honors by finishing in ninth place in the 10K race.  Garcia quailed for the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championships in St. Leo, Fla., where he finished in 190^th place.    

NATIONALLY/REGIONALL RANKED: Chico State is ranked fifth in the nation while fellow CCAA member Cal Poly Pomona is 22^nd.  Three teams from the conference are regionally ranked in Chico State (first), Cal Poly Pomona (third) and Cal State San Marcos (ninth).

CCAA RUNNER OF THE WEEK: Medhane Woldu was named the CCAA Runner of the Week for his first-place finish at the Kim Duyst Invitational the week of Sept. 5-11. 

UP NEXT:  At this weekend's regionals, the Warriors will be looking to qualify for the 2022 NCAA Division II National Championships on December 2 in University Place, Wash., as part of the Division II Fall Festival.
