TURLOCK, Calif.--- As announced by the office of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), Stan State's
Josh Santillan and
Finn Hoffmann were named to the 2022 All-CCAA Men's Soccer Team as voted on by the league's twelve head coaches.
Santillan was a Second Team selection while Hoffmann earned Honorable Mention honors. This is the first time since 2015 that the Warriors have at least a Second Team selection. In 2015, Gerardo Cazares and Jose Ramirez were First Team honorees for the Warriors. Brady Taylor was a Second Team selection in 2014.
He scored a team high seven goals for the Warriors while assisting on three goals. He had a total of a team leading seventeen points. The Newark, Calif., native is third in the CCAA in scoring, tied for third in points and tied for fifth in game-winning goals.
Of his seven goals, two were game-winning goals in Stan State's 1-0 win over Saint Martin's and 3-0 win over Cal State San Bernardino. In Stan State's victory over Cal State San Bernardino, Santillan scored two goals and assisted on the Warriors' third goals in its 3-0 road win in the CCAA. For his efforts that weekend, Santillan was named the CCAA/Pixellott CCAA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Hoffman finished the season scoring two goals and assisting on two others for six points. He had one game-winning goal in Stan State's 3-0 win over UC Santa Cruz. The sophomore midfielder started in seventeen of the Warriors' eighteen matches this season. The Shoreline, Wash., native other goal of the season came in the Warriors' 2-2 draw at Holy Names to open the season. His two assists came in Warriors' victories (4-0 over Fresno Pacific and 3-0 over UC Santa Cruz).
Stan State, under the guidance of second-year head coach
Morgan Cathey, finished the season 5-7-6 overall and 2-6-3 in the CCAA. The Warriors went 1-1-2 against nationally ranked opponents this season including tying then No. 2 Cal State Dominguez Hills 1-1 on the road and then No. 13 Cal Poly Pomona 1-1 at home. Their win came at Cal State San Bernardino, who at the time was receiving votes nationally.
