TURLOCK, Calif.--- As announced by the office of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) today, six members of the Stan State Women's Soccer Team were named to the All-CCAA Women's Soccer Team as voted on by the leagues' twelve head coaches.
Alexis Brewah was named the CCAA Newcomer of the Year and
Sabrina Cabrera was named the conference's Midfielder of the Year.
Besides earning their individual awards, Brewah and Cabrera were First Team honorees.
Alexia Estrada,
Jackzeny Mancilla,
Summer England and
Jocelyn Lopez were Honorable Mention selections.
Brewah is the first Warrior to earn the CCAA Newcomer of the Year Award. This is the first year that the CCAA Midfielder of the Year award has been presented to a student-athlete.
In her first season as a Warrior, Brewah scored a team leading ten goals and had a team high nine assists. She led the Warriors with her 29 points. Of her ten goals, two were game-winning goals in their 3-1 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills and 2-1 come-from-behind win over Cal State Los Angeles. After Stan State's victories over Cal State Los Angeles and Cal Poly Pomona, Brewah was named the CCAA/Pixellot Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. That weekend, she scored a goal and assisted on three others for the Warriors.
The junior forward is currently 15
th in the nation in assists, 16
th in assists/game and 23
rd in total points. In this week's CCAA statistics report, Brewah is tied for first in assists, second in goals and points and tied for eighth in game-winning goals.
Cabrera scored seven goals for Stan State this season and assisted on another for 15 points. She recorded a team high leading four game-winning goals. They came in the Warriors' 4-2 win at Fresno Pacific, 2-0 win over Biola, 1-0 win, 1-0 win at Cal State Monterey Bay and 3-1 victory over Cal Poly Pomona. She started in 13 of the 16 matches she played in this season for the Warriors.
The South Das Polos, Calif., native is second in game-winning goals, fourth in points and tied for fourth in goals in the recent conference statistical report.
England started in all 17 matches she played in this season for the Warriors. She scored two goals and assisted on two other goals for six points. The senior midfielder scored the game-winning goal in Stan State's 2-1 non-conference win over Cal State Monterey Bay earlier this season. Her other goal came in the Warriors' 4-2 win at Fresno Pacific.
Estrada started in 16 of the Warriors' 17 matches in goal this season. She posted a 1.00 goals against average with a .864 saves percentage. The junior goalkeeper recorded five shutouts in goal for Stan State while recording 102 saves. Three times this season, the South San Francisco native had double digits in saves with a season high 14 saves against Sonoma State.
In the recent NCAA Division II statistics report, Estrada is 18
th in total saves, 19
th in saves percentage and 24
th in saves per game. Estrada in the CCAA is first in saves per game, second in saves percentage, sixth in goals against average and tied for eighth in shutouts. For her performance in the Warriors' victories at Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State Monterey Bay, Estrada was named the CCAA/Pixellot Defensive Player of the Week.
Lopez started in 16 of the 17 matches she played in this season. She posted 12 shot attempts including five on goal attempts. She was one of the primary reasons that the Warriors allowed just 1.12 goals a game while posting five shutouts. Last week, Lopez was named the CCAA/Pixellot Women's Soccer Defender of the Week for her performance in Stan State's 2-1 come-from-behind win over Cal State East Bay.
Mancilla started in 12 of the 17 matches she played in this season for the Warriors. She scored four goals and had an assist for nine points. Of her four goals, two were game-winning goals in the Warriors' 2-0 win at Cal State San Marcos and 2-1 come-from-behind win over Cal State East Bay. Mancilla is tied for eighth in the conference in game-winning goals.
Stan State, under the guidance of head coach Gabe Bolton, finished the regular season as CCAA Co-Champions with Sonoma State. The Warriors finished with a 10-3-4 overall record and a 7-2-2 CCAA record. They will face Cal State Los Angeles this Friday, November 4 at 2pm in the CCAA Semi-finals at the Seawolf Soccer Field on the campus of Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, Calif.
