TURLOCK, Calif.---- After a strong Fall 2022 season, the Stan State men's golf team is ready for their spring season which concludes with the 2022 NCAA Men's Golf Championship in Warren, Ohio, May 22-26. The Warriors will compete in five invitationals prior to the CCAA Championships, April 17-19, at the Victoria Club in Riverside, Calif.
"We ended the fall feeling great about the direction and momentum of our team," said head coach
Brandon Christianson. "Our spring schedule includes some new events that we are excited to compete in. Last season's heartbreak of missing the NCAA Championship by a single shot still hurts. I know the guys are eager to redeem themselves this spring and play deep into the postseason."
Stan State will enter the Spring Season ranked third in the West Region and 21
st in the nation according to GolfStat.
The Warriors participated in four invitationals during the Fall including tying for first at the Southwest Airlines/HPU Shark Shootout in Hawai'i.
Chris Ebster tied for the individual medalist at the HPU Shark Shootout.
Stan State started its Fall finishing in seventh at the Wildcat Classic with
Chris Ebster leading the way with placing second. After the Wildcat Classic, the Warriors finished tied for seventh at the Otter Invitational with Ebster tying for seventh place with teammate
Nate Jetton.
The Warriors finished their fall in Hawai'i. They tied for first place at the Southwest Airlines/HPU Shark Shootout with Ebster tying for the individual medalist. Stan State finished their season tying for third at The Dennis Rose Invitational as Jetton captured individual medalist honors. Jetton was named the CCAA Men's Golfer of the Week for his performance at the HPU Shark Shootout and Dennis Rose Invitational.
Stan State, under the direction of head coach
Brandon Christianson, will begin their Spring in Vista, Calif., at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational at The Shadowridge Golf Club, February 13-14. They will return to Southern California, February 27-March1, in La Quinta, Calif., at the D2 Prestige that will be held at The PGA West Course.
Two weeks later, Stan State will travel to the Bay Area to participate in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park in Alameda, Calif., March 13-14. The Warriors will have their only home invitational on, March 27-28, as they will host the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at the Turlock Golf & Country Club.
Their last invitational prior to the CCAA Championship will be at the same course that the NCAA Division II West/Southwest Regionals will take place at the Foxtail Golf Course in Rohnert Park, Calif. The Warriors will participate in the West/Southwest Regional Preview April 10-11 at the Foxtail Golf Course.
One week after the West/Southwest Preview, Stan State will travel to Riverside, Calif., to participate in the CCAA Championships, April 17-19, at the Victoria Club. Following the CCAA's, Stan State will look to participate in the NCAA Division II West/Southwest Regional Championships in Rohnert Park, Calif., May 11-13 at the Foxtail Golf Course. At the regionals, the Warriors will be looking to advance to the NCAA Division II National Men's Golf Championships, May 22-26, in Warren, Ohio, at the Avalon Lakes Country Club.
