TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State head women's soccer coach Gabriel Bolton has announced the signings of two Central Valley Standouts to National Letter of Intents in Aliah Avila and Jocelin Roa.  Avila is from Madera South High School while Roa is from Sierra High School. 

"This is a small but mighty recruiting class," said Bolton.  "We are extremely excited to welcome two incredibly talented and local student-athletes to our program."

"With almost our entire team returning next year our focus for the 2023 recruiting class was to add a couple of players that can make an immediate impact," added the Warrior head coach.  "There is no doubt we have accomplished that goal. Aliah (Aliva) and Jocelin (Roa) are game changers.

Aliah Avila
The Madera native will graduate from Madera South High School this coming Spring.  The 5-4 forward was the 2021-22 Madera Tribune Attacker of the Year.  She was the recipient of the 4.0 award during her Interscholastic career. Avila is a member of the Merced Albion Soccer Club coached by Mariela Perez.

"Aliah (Avila) is an exceptionally gifted attacking player who can play both the 10 and the 9," stated Bolton.  "She is special with the ball at her feet and is a brilliant passer of the ball.  Aliah makes every player around her better. She is also an amazing student and a high character person."

Jocelin Roa
Roa is a member of the Valley Oak League Championship Team.  The Manteca native was the Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year.  She also is a member of the Manteca Football Club coached by Dinesh Singh.

"Joce (Roa) is really special," added Bolton.  "She is going to absolutely terrorize defenses with her dribbling and goal scoring ability. Jocelin is one of those players that can take over a game.  She just loves the game and loves to play. You can see that in her creativity every time she touches the ball. Her personality shines when she is on the pitch."

Stan State finished the 2022 season with a 10-4-4 overall and 7-2-2 in the CCAA.  The Warriors were 2022 Co-Regular Season champions of the CCAA.  Six players were named to the All-CCAA Team including the CCAA
Newcomer of the Year, Alexis Brewah, and CCAA Midfielder of the Year, Sabrina Cabrera. Brewah and Cabrera were also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team. 

"Alish (Avila) and Jocelin (Roa) are two of the best recruits in the Central Valley," added Bolton.  With the addition of these and the returners from this year, next fall will be very exciting."
