THIS WEEK IN WARRIOR SPORTS

STAN STATE'S KAELA DISHION BECOMES WARRIORS' THIRD CROSS COUNTRY ALL-AMERICAN

Stan State senior runner Kaela Dishion became the Warriors third All-American in cross country by finishing in the top forty at the 2022 NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships in University Place, Wash., on Friday afternoon. Dishion finished in 34th place with a time of 21:16.5. She helped lead the Warriors to a 18th place team finish.
 
The next Warrior harrier to cross the finish line was Najwa Chouati with her 54th-place time of 21:321. Kayden Legan ran a 22:30.2 to finish in 136th place followed by Yahaira Zuniga in 138th place with a time of 22:32.0.  Haleigh Humble was the next Warrior finisher with her time of 22:54.4 which placed her 174th. Bela Moreno finished in 224th (23:51.7) and Katarina Borchin was 245th (24:27.5).
 
WARRIORS FINISH WEEK 1-1
Stan State men's basketball team went 1-1 last week to improve to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the CCAA. The Warriors started the week with a 75-69 win over Cal State San Marcos on Thursday. Will Pallesi paced the Warriors with 17 points. Kobe Ordonio chipped in 12 points while Benno Zecic had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Marlon Short added 12 points off the bench for Stan State. The Warriors picked up the first CCAA win on Saturday with a 73-69 victory over Cal State Los Angeles. Ordonio had a game high 23 points with Short chipping in 18 points and Pallesi adding 13 points. Travion Williams scored six points, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished out four assists and recorded three steals for the victors.
 
STAN STATE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ENTERS THE WEEK, 3-5
The Warrior women's basketball team went 0-2 last week to fall to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the CCAA. Stan State started its week with a 70-59 loss to No. 19 Cal State San Marcos. Makayla Rose paced the Warriors with 18 points while Da'Myiah Lewis added 17 points and Liliana Marques chipped in 14 points off the bench. The Warriors finished the weekend with an 89-68 loss to Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday. Rose had 21 points with Marques scoring 12 points and Joia Armstrong chipping in 10 points.
 
WARRIOR INDOOR TRACK & FIELD TEAM TO BEGIN THEIR SEASON IN SPOKANE
Stan State women's track and field team will begin their indoor season on January 28 when they travel to Spokane to participate in the Whitworth Invitational. This will be the first of four indoor invitationals for the Warriors. Stan State will also compete in the two-day Big Meet in Allendale, Mich., February 10-11 and at Boston University on February 26 in Boston, Mass. The NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships are set for March 10-11 in Virginia Beach.
 
DISHION AND ORDONIO ARE THIS WEEK'S STAN STATE WARRIOR STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Stan State women's cross country runner Kaela Dishion and Warrior men's basketball player Kobe Ordonio are this week's Stan State Warrior Student-Athletes of the Week.
 
0Dishion became the Warriors' third All-American in women's cross country program history by placing in the top forty at the NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships. The senior runner finished in 34th place with time of 21:16.5 to lead the Warriors to a 18th place team finish at the championships.
 





0Ordonio averaged 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocked shots per game in Stan State's 1-1 week. He scored 11 points and had two blocked shots in the Warriors' 75-69 loss to Cal State San Marcos on Thursday. Ordonio finished the week with 16 points on five-of-eight shooting from the field, connecting on four of his five attempts from beyond the arc in the Warriors' win over Cal State LA.
