For the second time in 2022, Stanislaus State junior goalkeeper Alexia Estrada has been called in to play with the Guatemala Women's National Team for the CONCACAF Women's Championships.
Estrada received her first two starts with the full national team in February when she started and posted shutouts against the U.S. Virgin Islands and Curaçao. Guatemala is currently top of the table in CONCACAF Group B. They lead Costa Rica in goal differential.
"I am so thankful for the opportunity to represent the national team, and it's the greatest honor to defend the blue and white against other world competitors," said Estrada. "As a team, we know what we need to do for the next games and we have the passion and pride that we need in order to compete."
The CONCACAF Women's Championships are part of World Cup Qualifying and Guatemala's next two matches will be critical to its hopes of making it to the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2023, which will be hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
On Friday, Guatemala will host Saint Kitts and Nevis. They conclude group play in Costa Rica on April 12 in a game that is expected to determine who advances to the finals of CONCACAF Women's qualifying, being held July 4-18 in Mexico.
All matches can be viewed live and on replay on Paramount Plus in the United States.
