TURLOCK, Calif. --- Stan State women's basketball will see Cal State East Bay and Cal State Dominguez Hills this Thursday at 5:30pm and Saturday at 1pm for the Warriors' long stretch of home games in the coming weeks.
LAST GAME: The team returned home for their first of five straight home games, but weren't able to take the close 62-64 matchup against Chico State on New Year's Day.
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: The Warriors are still headhunting for conference wins during the following stretch of games at Fitzpatrick Arena, currently sitting at 4-8 for the season.
AMONGST THE CCAA LEADERS: Stan State continues their defensive prowess, maintaining their spot at 3
rd in conference in steals per game (9.92). The team has bumped down a spot since last week to 4
th in offensive rebounding (14.6).
Makayla Rose has upped her scoring average to 16.8 ppg, which puts her tied for 1
st among the CCAA's best scorers. She is shooting a solid 38.7% from the field, which is on par for 14
th in the conference. Her efficiency has also translated to the defensive side of the floor as she is now currently 1
st in steals per game at 3.1.
Liliana Marques and Rose both sit at 9
th (68.9%) and 13
th(65.0%) in free-throw percentage, while she and
Joia Armstrong stay in the top-25 in assists per game.
Lyric Richardson and Armstrong have also entered the top-25 shot blockers this season.
EAST BAY: The Pioneers come into Thursday's faceoff with an even 5-5 record on the year, going 2-4 in conference play. The team holds one of the lowest three-point and free-throw percentages in the CCAA but are 2
nd in team rebounding. They are also led by three players averaging double-figures in Delia Moore, Grace Campbell, and Jaela Richardson.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Since 2010, East Bay holds a 5-16 record over the Warriors. Stan State took the win in their most recent game 72-64 back in 2020.
DOMINGUEZ HILLS: The #19 Toros are undefeated at 12-0 for the season, going 6-0 in CCAA this year as well. They are the #1 rated offensive and defensive team in the conference this season, leading the CCAA in field goal percentage, assists, steals, and rebounding through the year. Dominguez Hills has three double-digit scorers that each shoot over 45% from the field this year in Asia Jordan, Dawnyel Lair, and Nala Williams.
ALL-TIME SERIES: The Warriors are 10-14 against Dominguez Hills dating back to 2008. During the 2021-22 season, Stanislaus State lost a close 55-56 home game against the Toros.
