Box Score SURPRISE, Ariz. – It was a historic first round for the Warriors in their opening dual vs. the Sunbirds to kick off this year's PacWest Women's Tennis Championships, as the team pulled off the 4-3 upset against the #5 seed to advance to quarterfinals.
DOUBLES: The duos of
Amber Huk/
Emma Yu and
Kate Bolton/
Alyssa Tay took two of the team's three opening matches in doubles play. Huk/Yu finished 6-3 over FPU, while Bolton/Tay swept the 6-0 victory in their matchup to put the Warriors on the board first 1-0.
SINGLES: Huk opened up #1 singles with a three-set victory after winning her last two sets to close out the faceoff (0-6, 6-3, 6-2). Yu rounded out the team's #5 spot in singles play, winning with ease in two sets 6-3, 6-2. The outcome of the match was decided by another three-set battle, as
Annabelle Mulick (6-2, 3-6, 6-4) went down to the wire in her clutch win at the #3 spot.
UP NEXT: The underdog Warriors take their first win in AZ and will face the #4 seed Point Loma Sea Lions tomorrow morning, April 19
th at 9am in the quarterfinals in hopes to continue their historic run.
