Stan State Slows the Roadrunners 4-3 in Fight Towards Fifth Place

Box Score SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Warriors advance on for a pontenial fifth or sixth place finish in the 2023 PacWest Tennis Championships. Clearing MSU Denver with a slight edge, Stan State will look towards finishing their unprecedented playoff streak as the #12 seed.
 
DOUBLES: Zuzanna Dziewiecka/Annabelle Mulick gave the Warriors a doubles matchup victory (6-1) at the #2 spot before the Roadrunners were able to break the tie with a two wins to take the team point. Amber Huk/Emma Yu lost a narrow 6-3 match at the #1 spot, but managed to bounce back through solo action later in the afternoon.
 
SINGLES: Dziewiecka got the Warriors back on the scorecard in #2 singles, after nearly clean sweep of her opponent (6-0, 6-1). Keeping her foot on the gas at the #4 spot, Mulick took her match to three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) for a dramatic win to help towards the team's climb back. Kate Bolton also went the distance in her #5 singles match, leaving nothing to chance with back-to-back set wins (4-6, 6-2, 6-4) to earn the team's third point of the day. Yu's spot at #6 led to another Stan State win, going 6-2, 7-5 to help her team fight for a potential fifth place finish in their historic conference championship run.
 
UP NEXT: The Warriors will be up against #10 Hawaii Hilo tomorrow morning at 9am for their final game of the weekend. A win will solidify the team's fifth place ending, while a loss will put them in sixth place through four days of battle.
