Box Score SURPRISE, Ariz. – The team's final day of competition in the Grand Canyon State ended on a high note, cooling off the #10 seed Hawaii Hilo Vulcans 4-1 to place fifth overall at this year's PacWest Tennis Championships. In true underdog fashion, the Warriors rallied their way through the brackets at their lowest seeding as a PacWest postseason opponent at #12.
DOUBLES: Earning the doubles win,
Zuzanna Dziewiecka/Annabelle went 6-2 in their matchup, while
Kate Bolton/
Alyssa Tay gave up just one game in their 6-1 win at the #3 spot.
Amber Huk/
Emma Yu went incomplete in #1 doubles with a 4-3 lead.
SINGLES: At the #1 singles spot,
Amber Huk got the team off to a solid start with 6-3, 6-1 set victories over her opponent. At spots #4 and #6
Annabelle Mulick (6-1, 6-2) and
Emma Yu (6-4, 6-0) brought the team its close-out victories to seal the deal on a fifth place championship run ending. Meanwhile, Tay and Dziewiecka would also go incomplete after nearly an hour and a half of work heading towards three sets.
Taking just one loss through the tournament, the Warriors went 3-1 through their four-days of action to overcome adversity as the final seed in and fifth seed out of the PacWest postseason.
