Both Cross Country Teams Earn First Place in the SF State Invitational

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--- The Stan State men's and women's cross country teams participated in the SF State Invitational hosted by San Francisco State. Both teams placed first, with the #25 in the nation women's team being first out of ten and the men's team finishing first out of twelve. Tanner Gerhart led the way for the men in the 8k at 25:05.1 for a first-place finish. Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva completed the race in second for the women's team with a time of 21:28 in the 6K race.

WOMEN: The Warriors had four runners in the top 10. Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva finished second in 21:28 with Annie Wild crossing the line in third behind her at 21:31.4. In sixth, Crystal Hernandez completed her race with a time of 21:50.7, and rounding out the top 10, in her first race as a Warrior, was Kayden Legan with a time of 22:21.
 
Those four runners were followed by Sophia Mirelez (12th, 22:25.5), Nina Furtado (18th, 22:37.7), Noheli Ron (23rd, 22:53), Tessa Vasquez (24th, 22:55), Dede Salcedo (32nd, 23:13), Milca Osorio (33rd, 23:13.7), and Aubrey Lascano (53rd, 24:06).

TEAM: Stan State finished on top with 33 points, with Sacramento State next at 38 points. #12 Chico State was third with 91 points, followed by Cal State Monterey Bay with 135, and Cal State East Bay rounding out the top 5 at 144 points. The hosts, SF State, finished in eighth with 210 points.

MEN: Tanner Gerhart was the first to finish the 8K with a time of 25:05.1. Mason Oliveira was the next Stan State member to cross the finish line at 25:16.5 for fifth place. Dominic Robles came in at 25:17.8 with Jackson Oliveira following at 25:19.5 to claim the sixth and seventh spots. Abe Alsaidi finished in tenth with a time of 25:27, marking five Warriors in the top 10.

Four other Warriors completed their race as well: Nate Olsen (24th, 26:05.8), Adin Dibble (27th, 26:15.5), Brody Vecchione (39th, 26:47.1), and Diego Cisneros (60th, 27:45.2)

TEAM: Stan State claimed the top of the leader board with 24 points. #7 Chico State finished second at 63 points with Cal State Monterey Bay in third at 92 points. Cal State East Bay was fourth with 107 points, Sacramento State completed the invitational in fifth with 121 points, and the hosts, SF State, placed seventh with 192 points.

UP NEXT:  Stan State heads to Fresno, California for the CCAA Championships hosted by Sonoma State. The men will start the day with the 8K at 9 a.m., and the women will follow at 10 a.m. with the 6K.
