TURLOCK, Calif.---- After being on road for their last three matches, the Stan State Warriors will return home to the Stan State Tennis Courts to face the Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans in a PacWest Conference match this Sunday, February 25 at noon.
LAST WEEK: The Warriors lost 7-0 at Academy of Art at the Bay Club South SF in Daly City Friday, Feb. 16.
Emma Yu lost a three-set match at number five singles to Erica Hellbe by a 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 decision.
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: Stan State enters its conference match with the Vulcans on Sunday with a 1-3 record including 0-2 in conference matches. The Warriors began the spring season with a 7-0 loss at NCAA Division I Fresno State and followed that with a 6-1 loss at Dominican. In their match against Dominican,
Annabelle Mulick was a 6-1, 6-3 victor at number two singles. Stan State started its season with a 7-0 victory at Jessup University, Feb. 3. Including in the Warriors' victory over Jessup, three were by 6-0 scores including at number three doubles (
Nicollet Alexander/
Alyssa Tay), number five singles (
Emma Yu), and number six singles (
Jaedyn Hendryx).
VULCANS IN REVIEW: Hawai'i Hilo will begin its season at Dominican for an 11am starting match in San Rafael on Saturday, Feb. 24 before traveling to Turlock to face the Warriors. The Vulcans went 10-10 last season. Stan State defeated Hawai'i Hilo 4-1 in the fifth-place match at the PacWest Championships. Earlier in the season, the Vulcans defeated the Warriors 5-2.
UP NEXT: Stan State will continue its two-match home stand Friday, March 1 at noon when the Warriors host Dominican at the Stan State Tennis Courts. The next morning at 10am, Stan State will travel to Fresno, Calif., to face the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds.d
