SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--- SF State used a six-run eighth inning to defeat the visiting Stan State Warriors, 12-11, to take game one of this weekend's four-game series. The Warriors lost despite scoring 11 runs on 15 hits. Six Warriors had multiple-hit games in
Flavio Perez (three-for-four, five runs batted in, four runs scored),
Jacob Baker (two-for-four, three runs batted in, one run scored),
Danny Murphy (two-for-four, two runs batted in, one run scored),
JD Madrigal (two-for-four, three runs scored),
Chris Catalano (two-for-five, two runs scored), and
Ryan Leonesio (two-for-five, a run batted in).
SF State (21-14, 15-10 CCAA) took a 4-0 lead with a four-run third inning. Derek Leferriere and Justin Johnson's two-out run scoring doubles capped the four-run third for the Gators.
The Warriors cut the deficit to 4-1 in their half of the fourth.
JD Madrigal had a one-out single and scored on a single by
Flavio Perez. Stan State added two more runs in the top of the sixth inning. Perez had a solo one-out home run. With two outs,
Jacob Baker walked and scored on a double by
Ryan Leonesio as the Warriors' deficit was 4-3.
Stan State (13-22-1, 10-17 CCAA) took a 7-4 lead with a four-run seventh.
Chris Catalano had a lead-off single, went to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Alex Solis.
Kyle Rachels walked with one out. Madrigal's single loaded the bases. Perez hit the first pitch he saw for a one-out two-run double to give Stan State a 5-4 lead. They added another run on a
Danny Murphy run scoring single which brought in Madrigal.
The Warriors made it 7-4 on a fielder's choice run batted in by Baker which brought in Perez.
The Gators cut the Warrior lead to 7-6 with a two-run seventh capped by an Armando Murillo sacrifice fly. The guests increased their lead to 11-6 with a four-run inning on just two hits.
Robert Valdivia had a lead-off single and went to second on a passed ball. Catalano walked to place runners on first and second. They each stole a base. With two outs, Madrigal was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Back-to-back walks to Perez and Murphy increased Stan State's lead to 9-6. Baker's two-run two-out single brought in Perez and Madrigal as Stan State took a 11-6 lead.

Andrew Silva retired the Warriors in order in the ninth to preserve the 12-11 come-from-behind SF State victory.
WARRIOR HITTERS: Flavio Perez was one of six Warriors with multiple-hit games. Perez went three-for-four with five runs batted in and three runs scored. He had a solo home run and a double.
Jacob Baker went two-for-four with three runs batted in and a runs scored and a stolen base.
JD Madrigal was two-for-four with three runs scored.
Chris Catalano was two-for-five with two runs scored and a stolen base.
Ryan Leonesio also had two hits, a run batted in, and a double.
STAN STATE PITCHERS: Noah Chelberg suffered the loss in relief for the Warriors.
Caleb Bertoncini recorded the no-decision in the start for Stan State while
Kody Cardoza pitched 1.1 innings of relief.
SERIES CONTINUES: Stan State will continue the four-game series with the Gators tomorrow with a 3pm single nine-inning game in San Francisco. As of now, the two teams will play a noon starting doubleheader this Sunday, April 14.
