KANSAS CITY, Mo.---  As announced today by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Stan State men's basketball team were named a recipient of the 2023-24 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.  Five Warriors in Mahda Fallay, Jeremiah Jones, Baljot Sahi, Cam Walker, and Jason Zimmer were selected as recipients of the NABC Honors Court.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2023-24 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2023-24 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.  The NABC's academic awards recognize teams and athletes from all levels of college basketball.

"The NABC is proud to celebrate these accomplished student-athletes, along with the coaches and staff who champion success in the classroom," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Education is a core value of the NABC, and the teams and athletes who earned these awards are proof that academic achievement remains a priority across every level of our sport."

The Warriors, coached by head coach Paul Trevor, had five of the over 2,100 players that earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and were one of 360 programs to receive NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2023-24.

Stan State was one of four programs from the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) to the distinction of being a 2023-24 Team Academic Excellence Award recipient.  Joining the Warriors were Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State East Bay, and San Francisco State.

During the Fall 2023 Semester, the trio of Jeremiah Jones, Baljot Sahi, and Jason Zimmer were named to the Stan State Department of Athletics' Honor Roll.  Those three along with Mahda Fallay and Cam Walker were named to the Department's Honor Roll this past Spring 2024 Semester. Jones was named to the 2023-24 Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team for the second year in a row as selected by the College Sports Communicators.
