Women’s Basketball to Finish Home Stand This Week Hosting Pioneers and Gators

TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State will finish off its four-game home stand, starting with a game this week against Cal State East Bay this Thursday, January 30th at 5:30 p.m. and San Francisco State University this Saturday, February 1st with a 1:00 p.m.  Thursday evening's game at The Fitz will be Student Affairs Night.  At halftime of the game, Stan State will recognize its 152 student-athletes that achieved a 3.25 or higher-grade point average this past Fall Semester.  Saturday afternoon's game will be Golden Valley Health Center Day.
 
LAST WEEK: The Warriors went 0-2 last week to begin their four-game home stand.  Stan State lost 71-56 on Thursday evening to Sonoma State despite three Warriors scoring in double digits in Da'Myiah Lewis (17 points), Daja Scott-Mitchell (14 points), and Amya Vangkham-Griffin (10 points).  The Warriors finished the week with a 69-52 loss to Cal State San Marcos Saturday afternoon.  Scott-Mitchell led the Warriors with 18-points, 14-rebounds while Lewis added 13 points and 12-rebounds.  They averaged 54 points per game while gave up 80.0 points per game.  Scott-Mitchell averaged 16.0 ppg and 12.5 rpg while Lewis averaged 15.0 ppg and 8.5 rpg.
 
WARRIORS IN REVIEW:  Stan State enters this week with a 4-14 overall record and a 3-9 CCAA record.  The Warriors are averaging 57.0 points per game while giving up 70.8 points per game.  They are begin outrebounded 43.2 to 37.9.  Three players are averaging double digits in scoring in Talia Maxwell (16.7 ppg), Da'Myiah Lewis (15.5 ppg), and Daja Scott-Mitchell (11.9 ppg).  Scott-Mitchell leads the team with her 46.5% shooting from the field and 8.6 rebounding average. Lewis has recorded a team high 28 steals and made a team leading 19 three-point field  goals.  Maxwell leads Stan State with her 23 blocks. Jadyn Patterson has dished out a team high 36 assists and Krista Andersen leads the Warriors with her 86.7% shooting from the line. 
 
SECOND HALF:   The Warriors will begin the second half of the CCAA season ending its four-game home stand this weekend against Cal State East Bay (Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m.) and SF State (Feb. 1 at 1:00 p.m.).  Of the final ten games of the regular season, Stan State will host six of them including this weekend.  The Warriors are in eleventh place, a half-game out of tenth and one game out eighth place.  Of their last ten games, the Warriors are home for six of them including this weekend.
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLES:  Da'Myiah Lewis and Daja Scott-Mitchell each have recorded five double-doubles this season.  Lewis is averaging 15.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season while shooting 71.8% from the charity stripe.  Against CSUSM, Lewis recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds.  Scott-Mitchell had back-to-back double-doubles this weekend.  Against Sonoma State, she scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Two days later, she grabbed 14 rebounds and scored 18 points against CSUSM.  For the season, she is averaging 11.9 points and 8.6 rebounds while shooting 46.8% from the field. 
 
600/300:  For her three-year career, Da'Myiah Lewis now scored 603 points and grabbed 305 rebounds in the 48 games she has played in for the Warriors.  She has 99 steals and 66 assists to go with her 12.5 scoring and 6.4 rebounding average. 
 
CCAA RANKINGS: Stan State is fourth in the CCAA in two team statistical categories with its 70.1% free throw percentage and 3.17 blocked shots per game average.
 
Da'Myiah Lewis is third in the CCAA in scoring (15.5 ppg), tied for third in rebounding (8.1 rpg), and sixth in free throw percentage (71.8%).  Daja Scott-Mitchell is second in rebounding (8.6 rpg) and sixth in field goal percentage (46.5%).
 
In CCAA games only, Scott-Mitchell is second in rebounding (9.7 rpg), sixth in field goal percentage (49.2%), seventh in blocked shots per game (0.9), and ninth in scoring (13.4 ppg).  Lewis is second in rebounding (7.5 rpg) and fifth in scoring (14.5 ppg). 
 
PIONEERS IN REVIEW: Cal State East Bay is 7-12 overall and 5-7 in the CCAA after losing its last four games in a row including both at home this past weekend to Cal Poly Pomona (61-58) and Cal State San Bernardino (73-56).  The Pioneers are in seventh place heading into the second half of the CCAA season.  They are averaging 61.5 points per game while giving up 72.7 points per game.  CSUEB is outrebounding its opponents 39.7 to 37.3.  Three players are averaging double digits in scoring in Taylor Eldredge (10.6 ppg), Aloha Akaka (10.5 ppg), and Ariyah Smith (10.3 ppg).  Gwendlyn Aasland leads the team with her 6.9 rebounding average and 11 blocked shots.  Smith has dished out a team leading 73 assists and made a team high 77.8% of her attempts from the line.  Joia Armstrong is shooting a team high 48.1% from the field.  Eldredge has recorded a team high 40 steals.  Kelsey Valencia leads the team with her 17 three's made.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: The all-time series between Cal State East Bay and Stan State as the Pioneers leading it 19-7.  The two teams have split the last four meetings. Thursday's match-up will be the second time the teams are meeting this season, with Cal State East Bay claiming a 64-37 victory over the Warriors in Hayward, Calif. on January 11th.  Daja Scott-Mitchell led the way for Stan State with 15 points and eight rebounds. The last Warrior victory was on Nov. 30, 2023 in Turlock, a 69-46 win. 
 
GATORS IN REVIEW: Entering its game on Thursday at Chico State, SF State is 6-11 overall and 4-8 in the CCAA.  The Gators have lost their last four games in a row including both at home this past week losing 66-57 to Cal State San Bernardino and 71-36 to Cal Poly Pomona.  They are averaging 60.2 points per game while giving up 69 points per game.  SF State is being outrebounded 44.8 to 33.6.  Alexsandra Alvarado is averaging a team high 15.1 points per game while leading the team with her 47 steals and 47 assists.  She is also shooting a team high 77.8% from the line.  Ana Daniels has blocked a team leading 20 shots to go with her 11.8 scoring average.  Seilaia Lautami leads SF State with her 45.8% shooting from the field.  Nyana Asiasi has made a team high 28 treys. 
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: Since 1998, Stan State leads the all-time series with San Francisco State 27-22. Stan State has won three of the last five meetings between the two teams.  The Warriors faced the Gators already this season on February 9th in San Francisco, Calif. with the home team taking the win 64-56. Daja Scott-Mitchell and Da'Myiah Lewis both recorded double-doubles, with Scott-Mitchell recording 18 points and 14 rebounds and Lewis earning 17 points and 10 rebounds. Stan State's last victory over the Gators was a 77-72 win on Dec. 2, 2023, in Turlock.
