Stan State Men’s Basketball Heads to Bay Area for Matchups at Menlo and Dominican

TURLOCK, Calif.--- The Stanislaus State men's basketball team hits the road for two Bay Area contests this week, visiting Menlo on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m. before facing Dominican on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 3:30 p.m. Stan State opened the 2025–26 season with a split at the Jessup Classic in Hayward, showing improved balance and control in its second outing to earn the first win of the year.

Weekend Recap
After dropping the season opener to Jessup, 78–68, on Friday, Stan State bounced back with a 65–50 victory over Fresno Pacific on Saturday to even its record at 1–1.

Against Jessup, Stan State stayed close throughout but couldn't overcome a hot-shooting second half by the Warriors' cross-town namesake, who hit 50 percent of their shots after the break. Donjae Lindsey led Stan State with 16 points, including 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Lloyd French scored 15 points with six rebounds and four assists, and Jason Cibull added 13 points off the bench. Daniel Ameyaw and Malachi Johnson grabbed eight rebounds each as Stan State finished nearly even on the glass.

The following night, Stan State put together a complete performance to defeat Fresno Pacific. Daniel Ameyaw dominated inside with 14 points and 12 rebounds, recording the team's first double-double of the season. Cibull added 12 points and four assists, and French chipped in 10 points and four rebounds. Stan State shot 47.3 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from three while holding the Sunbirds to 32.3 percent shooting overall.

Stan State outscored FPU in both halves, leading 29–23 at the break and pulling away late with efficient ball movement and interior defense. The team finished with a 39–36 rebounding advantage, scored 32 points in the paint, and turned 11 Fresno Pacific turnovers into 16 points.

Stan State Update
Through two games, Stan State sits at 1–1, outscoring opponents 133–128. Lloyd French and Jason Cibull share the team lead at 12.5 points per game, followed by Donjae Lindsey at 12.0. Daniel Ameyaw is averaging a double-double with 10.0 rebounds and 9.0 points per game.  Cibull leads the team in assists (2.5 per game), while Jason Zimmer is Stan State's top three-point shooter at 4-for-8 (50 percent) from beyond the arc. French leads in steals (1.0 per game), helping the team average 4.0 steals through two contests.  Stan State is shooting 42.6 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from three, and pulling down 37.0 rebounds per contest while holding opponents to 42.9 percent shooting.

Scouting Menlo (0–2)
The Oaks dropped their first two games to Central Washington and Western Oregon. Menlo is averaging 62.5 points per game while allowing 78.0 and has a –7.5 rebounding margin. Devon Woods leads with 12.0 points and eight
assists, while Nick High, Kai Brown, and Jamaal Unuakhalu each average 9.0 points per game.

Scouting Dominican (2–0)
Dominican opened with dominant wins over San Francisco State (96–66) and Cal Poly Humboldt (89–61). The Penguins are averaging 92.5 points per game on 53.5 percent shooting and 40.5 percent from beyond the arc. Darius Best leads the offense at 23.0 points per game, shooting 69.6 percent from the field, with Michael Wilson (15.0 ppg) and Sargent Jeffery (14.0 ppg) providing steady scoring support.
